Government’s Strategic Decision
Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif announced on Tuesday that the government intends to convene an All-Parties Conference (APC) to discuss the operational plan known as “Azm-e-Istekham.” The objective is to combat terrorism effectively and ensure lasting peace and prosperity across Pakistan.
Call for Opposition Participation
Asif emphasized the importance of comprehensive dialogue with opposition parties. He urged them to engage in meaningful discussions with the government to address critical national issues, particularly terrorism.
Progress in Counterterrorism Efforts
Highlighting ongoing intelligence-based operations, Asif acknowledged the sacrifices of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation. He expressed confidence in the significant strides made in the war against terror.
National Unity and Support
The defense minister underscored that the entire nation, along with political parties including the opposition, stands united in supporting Operation Azm-e-Istekham. This collective effort aims to eliminate the scourge of terrorism from Pakistan.
PTI’s Response and Government Offer
Addressing the behavior of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership, Asif mentioned that the government had extended an invitation for dialogue to resolve political issues. However, PTI leaders declined the offer, which Asif criticized.
